WATT MATTHEWS OF LAMBSHEAD.
LIMITED EDITION OF 250 SPECIALLY BOUND COPIES COPIES

Austin: Texas State Historical Association, 1989. 139pp. Photographs and text by Wilson. Introduction by David McCullough. First edition, one of 250 copies especially bound by the publisher in quarter-leather and in a slipcase. The leather is blind stamped with brands used on the Lambshead Ranch. Some fading to the spine, else fine in a near fine slipcase. A powerful photographic study of Watt Matthews and the historic Lambshead Ranch. Except for four years at Princeton, Watt spent his entire life on the ranch. He died in April 1997 at the age of 98, the last of the old-time cowmen. Wilson has done a superb job of capturing the ranch and the irrepressible spirit of the man behind it. This is an important book seldom offered in this special publisher’s binding and rarely found with the signatures of both the author and Matthews. Laid-in is Watt’s Associated Press obituary.
