THE TRAIL DRIVERS OF TEXAS.
THE BEST EDITION

Nashville: Cokesbury Press, 1925. 1044 pp. Published under the direction of George W. Saunders whose portrait is the frontispiece. Photographs. Original dark blue cloth with the title in gilt on the cover and spine. Second edition, revised. This “Nashville Edition” contains material not found in the original three volumes. For this reason and the deplorable bindings of the original three, I prefer this edition. A bright, copy showing minor wear to the extremities and a small amount of light insect damage along one edge. Overall, a very good copy. Walter Prescott Webb: “Absolutely the best source there is on the cattle trail.” Reese, Six Score 61: “This vast compilation of original accounts by old trail drivers is one of the best cattle books, and the largest collection of firsthand narratives of the cattle industry….an essential foundation book for any range library.” Adams, Herd 1103: “….perhaps the most important single contribution to the history of cattle driving on the western trails.” Jenkins, BTB 99: “This compilation is the essential starting point for any study of Texas trail driving days.” The largest compilation of first-hand narratives of range cattle industry, it is a must have book for anyone interested in the subject.
