THE MUSEUM OF NEW MEXICO GUIDE BOOK – SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO [Cover Title]
Santa Fe: The Museum Press, n.d. [1920?]. 40pp. Photographs. Gray printed wrappers. First edition. Faint stains to the back cover, overall, very good. The Museum of New Mexico was established in 1909 by the New Mexico Territorial Legislature. This pre-statehood legislation mandated the Museum of New Mexico be housed in the Palace of the Governors. At the time this guidebook was written the Museum occupied three main buildings. The Palace of the Governors taking the entire north side of the Plaza, the New Museum at the northwest corner of the Plaza, and the Director’s Home on Lincoln Ave. The guidebook goes room-by-room commenting on significant features and artifacts in each room. Includes an article from El Palacio, the Museum’s magazine, titled "New Mexico Mission Churches.” A scarce item.
