THE HOLMAN HOTEL: ITS OWNERS AND EARLY MONAHANS.
J. Conrad. Dunagan

N.p. [Monahans]:  Historical Association of Ward County, 1988.   63pp.  Numerous photographs.  Notes include bibliographic references.  Tan printed wrappers with photograph of the restored Holman Hotel.  Designed by William R. Holman and printed at the Wind River Press by David Holman.  First edition.  Fine copy.  Ma Holman’s boarding house, The Holman Hotel, Holman Manor, Monahans Hotel, or The Holman House, as it has been called at various times, served travelers in the first third of the 20th century.  The original structure, built in 1899, was destroyed by fire and the existing structure was built in 1909.  While it is the story of the hotel and the people that lived there, it, more importantly, gives us insights into life in a small town in the Permian Basin before the discovery of oil.  The book is further enhanced by a number of excellent photographs.  Seldom offered.
