O’Conor was a Dublin born mercenary who’s distaste for the British led him to join the Spanish. He would serve Spain in both Europe and North America. He oversaw the Presidial  Troops which were dragoons scattered across frontiers of New Spain. This work is the entire report of O’Conor the outgoing Lieutenant Colonel to his replacement, Teodoro de Croix. He schools his novice successor on techniques for continuing the war against the Apaches, how to synchronize patrols, how to coordinate a large-scale offensive campaign, and what tactics to employ. The appendices list the strength of the various garrison and a biography of O’Conor.
