In 1921 Lindeberg sent him to Texas to supervise three commissioned houses in the Shadeside neighborhood of Houston. Two years later Staub established his own practice in Houston. He designed 31 houses in River Oaks as well as homes in Beaumont, Dallas, Fort Worth, and Memphis Tennessee. His firm also designed buildings for the campuses at the University of Texas, University of Houston and Rice University. The author, a prominent architect in his own right, catalogs and provides commentary on a number of Staub’s homes including photographs, floor plans, and elevations. Enhanced by Scully’s comprehensive foreword.
