TEXAS BIRD ADVENTURES IN THE CHISOS MOUNTAINS AND ON THE NORTHERN PLAINS.
Cleveland: The Bird Research Foundation, 1940. xi,192pp. Frontis. Photographs. Illustrations. Original blue cloth. First edition Externally, the spine is heavily faded with oxidation to the gilt on the title. Internally, there is the large bookplate of a previous owner with toning mostly to the prelims. The colorful pictorial dust jacket shows extensive loss along its peimeter. Overall, a good+ copy. This is the first of three books the author wrote on bird watching in North America. Brandt traveled first to the Chisos Mountains in the Big Bend and then spent four days on the Wagonner Ranch, just south of the Red River. While the focus is bird watching, there is about as much material on the Wagonner Ranch as birds. Missed by Ramon Adams, it is a scarce work.
