The dust jacket spine is faded and has a diagonal tear to the front panel (closed with acid-free archival tape), overall, very good. Adams, Six-Guns 2323: “Contains some material on Newton, Kansas, and its gun battles.” Rittenhouse, The Santa Fe Trail 623: “A scholarly study of the building of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway. The first chapter (pp. 9-22) is a good brief economic history of the SFT.” This volume not only covers the history of the Santa Fe Railroad, it contains much on the history of the Southwest. There are a number of interesting sketches and anecdotes about the area’s early development.
