There are chapters devoted to the stagecoach entrepreneurs, George Giddings and the Jackass Mail, and Butterfield’s Overland Mail. Among the information is the account of Big Foot Wallace’s delivery of the first mail to El Paso (pant less) as well as material on conflicts with the Indians, impact of the Civil War, types of coaches, travelers’ experiences, and the stagecoach stations. The preface gives the author’s family background and an account of his life.
