PLOW-HORSE CAVALRY: THE CANEY CREEK BOYS OF THE THIRTY-FOURTH TEXAS.

Robert A. Weddle
Austin: Madrona Press, 1974. 210pp. Index. Sources. Photographs. Maps. First edition. The book is a fine copy. The dust jacket shows toning to the spine and perimeter with a tear (closed with archival tape) to the back panel and minor edgewear, overall good+. This unit fought in Missouri, Arkansas, and saw very heavy action in Louisiana. Using as a framework the letters between his grandfather, a member of the unit, and his grandmother, the author gives us not only a history of the unit but the viewpoints of the common soldier.
