Both volumes are fine in equally nice dust jackets. Dr. Nance’s lifelong ambition was to present a complete history of the Mier Expedition. The author began his research in 1937, and, when completed 59 years later, he had amassed between 3,000 and 4,000 pages. These two books, ably edited by Archie McDonald, are the definitive work on the Mier Expedition. Enhanced by the inclusion of Dr. Nance’s table of participants, which provides identification, Texas city of residence, state or country of origin, and a brief summary of his activities or fate as related to the expedition. Both volumes are now out of print.
