CAST IRON TOY GUNS AND CAPSHOOTERS.

CAST IRON TOY GUNS AND CAPSHOOTERS.
Samuel H. & Charles W. Best. Logan

Davis, California: Privately printed for the authors, 1990. xi,249pp. Numerous black and white photographs. Maroon faux leather with title and author’s names on the front cover and spine in gilt. First edition, numbered limited edition. SIGNED by Logan. Fine, bright copy. The white illustrated dust jacket exhibits minor soiling and light general wear, overall, very good or better. The authors cover nearly every iron cap gun ever produced from the 1870s through the 1940s. There are chapters devoted to collecting considerations, named guns, guns without names, foreign cap guns, animated cap guns, cap bombs, novelties, and cap canes. In turn, the information presented on each toy gun typically includes the identification code, the manufacturer (if known), the approximate date of production, the type of toy gun, its length, other markings, and, in some cases, a comment from the authors. A scarce work, it is a must for collectors of this genera.
