Publisher’s black slipcase with silver flecks. Additional silver spine label tipped in at the end of the book. First edition, “Sierra Madre Edition” limited to 265 copies signed by Dobie & Lea. A very tiny amount of foxing on the front pastedown, except as noted, very fine. In its original plain paper wrapper, torn and chipped. Slipcase has minor blemishes, overall, near fine. Paul Crume, DMN: “This new one [Apache Gold and Yaqui Silver] is by a long shot his best work, even better than Coronado’s Children…It shows Dobie for what he is: the region’s foremost literary artist.” Jenkins, BTB 45n: “Dobie wrote other books with stories of lost mines, the best of which is Apache Gold and Yaqui Silver….” This is a sequel to Coronado’s Children, focusing on New Mexico, Arizona, and Sonora. It consists of two long narratives, The Lost Adams Diggings and The Lost Tayopa Mine and five shorter stories. Enhanced by Lea’s superb illustrations, it is a beautiful copy
