A BRIEF WRITE-UP OF THE COUNTY OF BELL, THE HOME OF THE PROSPEROUS, AND A FEW FACTS CONCERNING TEMPLE, THE COMING WONDER OF CENTRAL TEXAS.
J. E. Moore

Dallas: Highlands Historical Press, n.d. [ca. 1960s]. 16pp. Illustrated with steel plate etchings. Map. Pink pictorial wrappers, stapled. Facsimile reprint, limited to 500 copies. Fine copy. The author, who describes himself as “the pioneer Land and Real Estate man of Temple, Texas,” demonstrates the typical exuberance of the land promoter. He describes in glowing terms the virtues of Bell County in general and Temple in particular. Moore expounds on the fine soil with which produces bounteous crops, its salubrious climate, abundance of water,  cheap land and exemplary class of citizens. About half of the pamphlet is devoted to the city of Temple which at the time was less than ten years old. He describes its excellent rail facilities and its positive impact on the city as well as the surrounding area, growing population, a booming business base, strong school system, etc. Moore includes a list of properties in Bell County and the surrounding areas giving prices. The steel engravings show some of the prominent homes and buildings in Temple. A classic promotional pamphlet that is seldom offered.
