Using the original “Day Book,” the author gives the day-by-day history of the Confederate States Ordinance Works at Tyler from 1861 to 1865. The most interesting part of the book is the miscellaneous correspondence between the various officers which give insight into the problems, large and small, of arming the Confederate troops.
