TWILIGHT ON THE RANGE: RECOLLECTIONS OF A LATTERDAY COWBOY.
William. Timmons

Austin: University of Texas Press, 1962. 223pp. Index. Photographs. Text illustrations. Blue cloth title in silver on the spine. Number two in the M. K. Brown Range Life Series. First edition. SIGNED by Brown. Externally, a bright, near fine copy. The dust jacket is chipped and torn with old tape repairs, overall, good-. Internally, a previous owner’s name on the half-title, else, near fine. These are the reminiscences of William Timmons, the youngest cowboy Charles Goodnight ever hired. Fourteen at the time, he went to work on Goodnight’s Cross J Ranch in 1892. With his various chores around the Goodnight spread and his experiences when he was “loaned out,” Timmons soon developed into a top hand. His comments on Goodnight fill in the margins of Haley’s fine biography. After four years Timmons headed for the open ranges of North Dakota where he worked for several ranches.
