SAM HOUSTON.
James L. Haley
Norman: University of Oklahoma Press, 2002. xxii,513pp. Index. Bibliography. Notes. Afterword. Frontis. portrait of Houston. Illustrations. Cloth. First edition, first printing. Except for a non-authorial inscription on the title page, it is a bright, near fine copy in an equally nice dust jacket. The strength of this book is the presentation of much new material on a life so well chronicled. Additionally, the author focuses on events in his life that Houston felt were the most important. Fifteen years in the making, the book is a well-researched, readable account of Houston’s life and an important addition on the subject.
