Caldwell: The Caxton Printers, 1953. xvi,436pp. Index. Appendix. 391pp. Ep maps. Frontis. port. Numerous plates. Maps. First edition. SIGNED by the author's daughter. Very fine copy in an equally nice dust jacket. The book is based on the letters of Jocelyn whose career covered the years from 1863 to 1907. It gives a fascinating look at Army life when the West was developing. Jocelyn, who spent much of his career as Captain of Co. B, 23rd Infantry, spent time at just about every Army Fort in the West and participated in or had some connection with most of the major Indian Campaigns including the Modoc, Nez Perce, and Bannak Indian Wars.
