Norman: University of Oklahoma Press, 1951. xiii,310pp. Index. Bibliography. Illustrations. Light blue cloth. First edition. Except for a small (approx. 1/8") pin head shaped hole in the cloth at the bottom edge of the spine, it is a very good copy. The dust jacket shows moderate edge wear, has a hole at the bottom of the spine and a faint damp stain on the front panel, all things considered, still a good jacket. Herbert Gambrell: “A great biography by any standards.” Jenkins, BTB 65: “One of the most interesting of all Texas biographies written about a man whose Horatio Alger success made him so famous that his contributions to the creation and development of Texas were almost forgotten.” An influential Texan during the Republic era, Borden was an early Texas surveyor, printer and inventor. He was also involved in a number of philanthropic activities throughout his life.
