TRAVIS.

TRAVIS.
Archie P. McDonald

Austin: Jenkins Publishing Co., 1976. 214pp. Index. Bibliography. Notes. Frontis. portrait. Illustrations. Geometric design paper over boards with blue cloth spine. First edition.  Fine copy. The dust jacket is also fine. Stanley E. Siegel, University of Houston: “McDonald’s research is thorough and his writing flows easily; he has written a splendid biography.” It is interesting that there have only been a handful of books devoted exclusively to William B. Travis and most of those have focused on his actions at the Alamo. This book focuses on William Barret Travis--- the man in an effort to provide a truer appreciation of him. It includes an examination of his years in South Caroline and Alabama and their impact on his life. Its importance lies in the examination of these largely unknown aspects of Travis’ life. This is the first complete, scholarly biography of Travis.
