Warren H. BuxtonLos Alamos: Ucross Books, 1984. 247pp. Index. Bibliography. Numerous photographs. Redish brown cloth with gold embossed lettering. First edition. Fine copy (no dust jacket issued). This volume is the second of three books on model P.38 pistol and covers those weapons produced during World War II. These pistols were produced in Germany or its occupied areas during the war by firms other than Walter; that is, by contract firms. The author examines the pistol of Mauser Manufacture, Spreewerke Manufacture and other secondary manufactures such as Fabrique Nationale. The accompanying photographs show not only the firearms discussed but show their markings as well. Based on extensive and detailed historical research and correspondence, this volume is an essential source for information on the P.38’s produced during this period.
