MEMORIES OF HORSES AND WARS: THE SCULPTURE OF H. CLAY DAHLBERG.

MEMORIES OF HORSES AND WARS: THE SCULPTURE OF H. CLAY DAHLBERG.
Don Hedgpeth

Austin: The Wind River Press, 1984. 72pp. Foreword by Charles Schreiner, III. Photographs (some in color) by Ernest Love. Brown cloth spine with tan paper over boards and paper spine label. First edition, limited to 500 copies. Fine copy (no dust jacket issued). Clay Dahlberg was born in San Antonio and grew up in Houston. His summers were spent on an uncle’s ranch near Cotulia and the impressions and images Dahlberg carried away would become the core of his art. The book shows 38 of artist’s sculptures expertly photographed by Ernest Love and is further enhanced by Don Hedgpeth’s illuminating prose. If you enjoy western art in general and sculpture in particular, this book should be on your shelf. Apparently scarce with OCLC locating only four copies.
