BLACK BEANS & GOOSE QUILLS: LITERATURE OF THE TEXAN MIER EXPEDITION.

BLACK BEANS & GOOSE QUILLS: LITERATURE OF THE TEXAN MIER EXPEDITION.
James M. Day

Waco: Texian Press, 1970. vii,169pp. Index. Bibliography. Notes. Black cloth, title in gilt on spine. First edition. Fine copy. Minor edgewear to the jacket, overall, very good. While this book opens with a concise narrative of the expedition, it is not an account of the Mier Expedition per se, but rather an analysis of the literature it spawned. The author examines the diaries of six participants--- Thomas Jefferson Green, James A Glasscock, Joseph D. McCutchen, Thomas W. Bell, and William P. Stapp to tell their stories of the ill-fated Mier Expedition. The result is an interesting and informative examination of each man’s experience. Enhance by the extensive footnotes and bibliography.
